Jacque Ortegon
Originally from San Antonio, Texas, I relocated to Coronado as a young person when my father’s Navy service brought our family to the military housing community. This early exposure to military values of discipline and teamwork would prove foundational to my athletic development.
I graduated from Coronado High School, where my passion for volleyball truly took shape. My dedication to the sport earned me the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level at UC San Diego, where I played both indoor and beach volleyball. The diverse volleyball programs at UCSD allowed me to develop a well-rounded skill set and deep appreciation for different aspects of the game.
Throughout my volleyball journey, I’ve learned that excellence comes through patience, persistence, and purposeful practice. My coaching philosophy centers on the belief that improvement in any skill requires time and consistency. I emphasize asking the right questions—both as a coach to my players and encouraging players to ask questions of themselves and their technique.
My approach is built on three core principles: train with intention, learn continuously, and maintain a commitment to constant improvement. I believe that every player has untapped potential, and my role as a coach is to help them discover and develop that potential through structured practice, thoughtful feedback, and unwavering support for their growth both on and off the court.
